About The Role

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Healthcare Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a paediatric client with complex needs, including epilepsy, severe learning disabilities, speech and language delay and Autism. The individual is non-verbal, doubly incontinent, and requires consistent supervision and support throughout the day, particularly during meals due to behavioural eating concerns and food safety awareness.

The client is fully mobile but occasionally uses a mobility buggy for longer outings. She enjoys music, musicals, trips out, her iPad, and developmental play. A strong love for animals and spending time with family are central to her daily life. She thrives in a calm, structured environment with engaged, attentive carers who understand non-verbal communication and can read body language effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Personal care and hygiene
  • Manual handling and use of mobility aids as needed
  • Medication administration
  • Seizure monitoring and management
  • Supporting non-verbal communication
  • Promoting play and sensory interaction
  • Managing challenging behaviour with a calm and structured approach
  • Supervising all meal times to ensure safety
  • Supporting with outings and structured activities

A full driving licence with access to your own vehicle is essential.

Unity Care Solutions provides complex clinical healthcare services to children and vulnerable adults within the comfort of their own homes.

You will work with a small number of our clients to provide dedicated and professional healthcare services.

Available shifts include:

  • Days: Thursday and one Sunday a month
  • Thursdays: 16:00 – 20:00
  • Sunday: 10:00 – 18:00

To be successful, you will:

  • Minimum 1 year experience in paediatric complex care
  • Confident in seizure management and behavioural support
  • Experience working with non-verbal children and those with eating/food-related behaviours
  • Attentive, playful, and calm under pressure
  • Able to work closely with families in a respectful and supportive way
  • Skilled at reading non-verbal cues and body language
  • Hold a full driving licence with access to your own vehicle
  • Be able to commit to the minimum availability of shifts
  • Hold the right to work in the UK. Please note that we are unable to offer VISA sponsorship.
