The sun shone on the Unity Care team who were delighted to be amongst the volunteers at the Five Acre Wood School’s Summer Fayre, in Maidstone on Saturday 17th July.
Five Acre Wood School is an outstanding District Special School for children and young people aged from 4 to 19 with Profound, Severe, and Complex Learning Difficulties including Autistic Spectrum Disorder. Unity Care helps support many children and young people who attend the school. Volunteering at the Summer Fayre was a chance for Unity Care to give something back and support the work of this exceptional school.
The Fayre, which ran from 11am until 2pm, drew quite a crowd. Visitors were able to enjoy the many attractions including gift stalls, raffles, games live music and a BBQ and there were even Guide Dogs to meet and greet.
The Unity Care team of Sarah Boffa, Helen Busbridge, and Katie Rose were soon hard at work running their ‘Knock Down the Tin Cans’ stall. Cans were flying throughout the day, and kept the staff on their toes as they dodged and collected them … while playing ‘chicken’ with the oncoming Land Train!
But there were smiles throughout and it was a great opportunity to meet the students, families, and staff of Five Acre Wood School. Unity Care was honoured to be involved with a great school which does so much for the community.
