Valuing our staff
We know that our staff are our number one asset and because of this we appreciate how important it is to ensure that each and every one of our employees are happy and feel valued.
To show our appreciation we like to surprise our staff and send them little ‘pick-me-ups’ at different times throughout the year. Some of these have included-
Mini care hampers containing hand creams, sweets and treats etc
‘We Care’ badge from the ‘We Care’ campaign
‘Care’ badges from Care England campaign
Frontline19 ‘virtual hug’ tote bag from the Frontline 19 campaign
A mindfulness letterbox gift set to celebrate World Mental Health Day 2021 containing a variety of treats and activities to practice good health and wellbeing
A very well-deserved gift voucher each Christmas.
Psychological First Aid
At Unity Care Solutions we have always strived to look after our staff. However, in early 2020 with the Covid-19 pandemic it became evident that we all needed a more structured approach to our staffs’ wellbeing. With this in mind, all our office support staff trained in Public Health England’s ’Psychological First Aid’ training. This gave us the confidence to be able to talk to our staff and signpost them if they were struggling with their own mental health. In addition to all office support staff being trained in Psychological Frist Aid, we also have a trained Metal Health Advocate in each branch to be able to support those that are experiencing mental health issues in a better way and help them to access other services that may be available to them.
UCS Wellness program
We wanted to build on what we learnt in the Psychological First Aid Training so we developed our own internal “Wellness program” to make staff feel valued by offering support at work, and to offer opportunities to talk and give assistance via signposting. Our aim is to enhance and build on the relationships we already have with our staff and to be able to identify any concerns early on that might affect the wellbeing of our staff, either work related or on a personal level. This was initially launched in our Wellbeing Newsletter in October 2020 and has been a very successful addition to our day-to-day staff support. We truly believe that a little self-care goes a long way!
UCS Wellbeing Newsletter
In October 2020 to celebrate World Mental Health Day we launched our first Wellbeing newsletter for our staff. As part of our Wellness Programme, we now feature a quarterly newsletter which is sent out to all our employees across the company to provide some interesting information about how to focus on their own health and wellbeing.
WeThrive
‘We thrive’ is an employee experience platform that is being used by Unity Care Solutions to identify the views and wishes of our employees. Powered by expert workplace psychologists, We Thrive produces instant personalised feedback, action plans, tools and resources that our staff need to thrive, both personally and professionally.
Blue Light Card
We also wanted to reward our staff so we have made available to all our employees access to the Blue Light Card which gives discounts to many online and in-store discounts only available to those in the Emergency services, NHS, Social Care and Armed forces sectors. Every existing and new employee at Unity Care Solutions is able to apply for a Blue Light Card and we cover the cost of this for you
