About The Role
We are looking for a caring and experienced Healthcare Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a paediatric client with complex neurological and physical needs. The child has complex care needs and cerebral palsy, resulting in non-verbal communication, limited mobility (wheelchair user), dystonia, epilepsy, and global developmental delay.
Feeding and medication are administered via gastrostomy, and oral suctioning is required. The client is also at risk of seizures and requires close observation and prompt response to any signs of distress or discomfort. He is vibrant and expressive child who enjoys music, arts and crafts, sensory play, and helping out in the kitchen. Books, picture stories, and interactive activities are also favourites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Personal care and hygiene support
- Manual handling and wheelchair transfers
- Medication administration (including rescue medication)
- Enteral feeding (gastrostomy/PEG)
- Seizure monitoring and management
- Oral suctioning and nebuliser use
- Supporting non-verbal communication and reading body language
- Encouraging social play, sensory activities, and interaction
- Managing frustration and challenging behaviours appropriately
A full driving licence with access to your own vehicle is desirable but not essential.

You will work with a small number of our clients to provide dedicated and professional healthcare services.
Available shifts include:
- Days
- Monday (4 hours) to Saturday (10 hours)

To be successful, you will:
- Minimum 1 year experience in paediatric complex care
- Skilled in seizure management, enteral feeding, and suctioning
- Confident in supporting non-verbal children and reading body language
- Able to remain calm and patient, especially during moments of frustration
- Able to work closely with families in a respectful and supportive way
- Playful, engaging, and able to build rapport with children
- Comfortable working alongside family in a home environment
- Be able to commit to the minimum availability of shifts
- Hold the right to work in the UK. Please note that we are unable to offer VISA sponsorship.
